Surviving The Holidays

As everyone who has suffered a significant loss knows, the holidays bring a bittersweet mixture of joy and sorrow, good memories and painful tears. In order to assist those who are grieving a loss, we are offering a Surviving the Holidays event on November 14th at 2:00 in the afternoon. If you are facing a tough time making it through the holidays, we invite you to participate free of charge.

What will the afternoon event be like? We will spend some time in contemplation and honoring those we have lost through prayer, music, and poetry.  Morgan Buxton of Christ Church in West Monroe will sing The Lord’s Prayer for us during this time. Following that we will watch the Surviving the Holidays DVD presentation.  Experts will help us find practical answers to questions like…

  • Is it normal to feel so depressed during the holidays?
  • How do I deal with the pain of the holiday season?
  • Should I accept or decline invitations to holiday parties?
  • What should I do if I get emotional at a party or event?
  • How can God and others help me this holiday season?
  • Will I ever enjoy the holidays again?

Afterwards there will be light refreshments. Counselors will be on hand for others to meet including James Bagley of Crossroads Counseling. We will also let participants know the dates for our 2010 GriefShare season.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with us. We would like to know if you are going to be present, but that is not necessary. We hope and expect God to reach out to bring hope and healing to our hearts.
